The City of Leon, in conjunction with the Leon Visioning Committee, has been awarded a $50,000 DEKKO Foundation grant to make improvements at Leon’s Noel Park.
The grant is a 2 to 1 matching grant which means the city must raise $25,000 in donations to get the entire $50,000 grant from the DEKKO Foundation.
The purpose of the grant is installation of sidewalks and expanding parking. Sidewalks will be installed that will make two loops and connect the entire park. The park is home to 3 ballfields, playground equipment and baseketball court. This will not only make it much safer and easier to walk around the park, but will also make Noel Park a destination for outdoor exercise.
Fundraising efforts are underway to raise $25,000. Donations of any amount are welcomed. For a $100 donation, you can purchase a 4 foot section of the sidewalk with a plaque embedded in it to put your name on or it would be a great way to memorialize a loved one.
